Every event has its unique story, My first Greek Wedding Photography of Angelica & Trevor Kroesch was not the exception. Their ordeal started when their close friend and photographer, scheduled to capture their nuptials, had a medical emergency that put him in a hospital. Eventually they found another photographer but, against all odds, this photographer also had an unexpected family emergency and, 2 days before the grand day, he called to inform he was not able to be at the event. Angelica started a search for a replacement, my friend Kristine Ko of KK Creative Studios was booked already but she kindly refer Angelica to me.
On August 18, 2012, I walked to this event without knowing the groom, bride nor any of the bridal party… It was very unusual for me, since I always like to chat and get to know my clients prior to the event….Because everything was scheduled so quickly, I had not much information to go from, except the place where the bride will be getting ready.
After a quick introductions, my assistant, 2nd shooter and I started to capture this unforgettable day for Angelica & Trevor Kroesch.
Bride preparations started at the prestigious WESTIN Located at 191 North Los Robles. Pasadena, CA 91101. (By the way, the original room had a flood, we were relocated to the spa… a very challenging location due to its background and lighting… we love challenges thou )
The couple is crowned with stefana, wreaths that are linked together by a white ribbon to symbolize unity and that the couple now rules their own kingdom — you really are a queen for the day! The couple is now officially wed.
The priest blesses the rings three times. Then the Koumbaro or Koumbara exchanges rings that are placed on the bride and groom’s right ring fingers.
The bride and groom sip wine from a common cup and the newly married pair walks around the sacrament table, or altar, three times — their first steps as a married couple. The priest leads, holding the bible to symbolize their commitment to God
Now some formal poses with the bridal party + family members
May God always bless this union providing a path of infinite happiness and prosperity
What better place for a reception of this magnitud than the awesome NOOR Restaurant & Ballroom, Chosen Pasadena Weekly’s Best Wedding Location & Banquet Hall for 2011. 260 East Colorado Boulevard Pasadena, CA 91101
After Angelica & Trevor have went through many bumps into preparing for their wedding, . I was just so ecstatic that everything went well and now celebrating.
Everybody was having fun …
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

From my perspective, there’s no difference, except in size, between a wedding with 300 guests and one with just 40… after all, it’s the GRAND day for the couple getting married plus it’s my job, as wedding photographer, to capture and preserve every moment of it.
Such is the case when I was asked by Bibiana & Martin Romero to be their wedding photographer. They have been together for more than 10 years, a series of events have prevented them from getting married as they had planned, from their union, two precious daughters are the proof of unlimited love and care for each other as well as a unparalleled devotion for Christianity and love to God.
On June16, 2012; preparations started at their home with makeup by the amazing make up artist Karla Moncado
The event, very intimate but filled with joy , took place in Bibiana’s parents house and was officiated by Pastor Nick Gonzalez of treasured Ceremonies
The gathering was very intimate, close family members and friends were present to celebrate and wish the couple a lifetime of happiness
CONGRATULATIONS… wishing them a lifetime of blessings, prosperity and love. Click HERE to see all the images and enjoy a short slideshow with the highlights of the event.

As photographer I cannot overlook and let pass the opportunity to visit Old Pasadena or Old town Pasadena… is the business district of Pasadena, a lively and diverse city located just ten miles from downtown Los Angeles. This eclectic old town area features entertainment and activities for kids and adults alike: museums, galleries, and music events as well as movies, shopping, restaurants, and outdoor cafes. Families often stop by after sports events at the Rose Bowl; this clean and safe district is pedestrian friendly and provides amazing photo opportunities due to the incredible urban backgrounds.
The Big Day – A, sort of related to the weddingphotography industry Kickstarter Project for which I am a proud “Backer”. Why? Because not only I found it very interesting but also because I’ve always been a Movie-A-Holic inclined to foreign, independent, short productions.
Here is a direct copy from the project itself and, as usual, a video which explains more in detail. Hope you become a supporter or better known as “Backer”…

We are seeking funding for a feature film that revolves around a wedding night gone awry. When a group of High School friends now in their late twenties gather and reconnect at a wedding, old flames rekindle, old secrets resurface and new secrets are made. These friends come together and fall apart, but will the friendships survive the night? Will the marriage?
There is a shift happening in Hollywood, and micro budget pictures such as this are beginning to be noticed, watched, purchased, rented, streamed and talked about. There is a paradigm shift happening in which a film can be just as successful premiering on the iTunes store as in a theater. We want to be a part of the first wave of that change, and we want you to join us in being a part of it.
This feature film is based on a dramatic improv created by Erin Cardillo at Warner Loughlin Studios. The film will be shot in it’s entirety over the course of three days. We will be following a strict story outline, but all of the dialogue will be improvised during the shooting of the film. We are planning for a scheduled shoot at the end of April through early May and will be finishing the film in time for the major film festival deadlines in the fall.
Your pledge will be going toward paying crew, renting a location, renting lights and cameras and feeding everyone, as well as editing the film and hiring a sales agent to help us gain exposure. Everyone will be working for free or next to nothing, so know that we are investing our time and crew and equipment from our favor bank to match the backing that we receive here.
$15,000 is the bare minimum needed to create this project, and should we be lucky enough to exceed our goal, the money would go toward better post-production and more publicity for the exhibition and distribution of the film. Thank you so much for your time, your money and your good energy. If you like the project and want to pledge, please check out our unique incentives and perks from the list.
Photo booth-less…Once again had the awesome opportunity to participate as a photographer to an extraordinary event hosted by Sophomore Student Council of prestigious Ramona Convent Secondary School of Alhambra, CA.
ENIGMA was the chosen name for this night of music, laughter and unforgettable images captured in Photo Booth style.
Enigma at Ramona Convent Secondary School
By definition, Enigma is One that is puzzling, ambiguous, or inexplicable. Nothing could be more “Enigmatic” than Love and February is considered “The Month of Love“. Therefore VOX Photography decorated its Photo Booth-less with some allegory items and along with some props plus the enormous energy, enthusiasm and posing creativity of the participants we gather some interesting funny loving images.
Everyone had fun at this party….even the crew of VOX Photography…..
For those of you that have not been or are not part of a Vietnamese family, that phrase roughly translates to “Happy New Year,” and hearing it signals the beginning of Tết, or Vietnamese Lunar New Year. (Based on the Chinese Calendar)
2012 The Year of The Dragon
The Year 2012 is the 4709th Chinese year…is the year of Dragon…2012 is a Black Dragon or Water Dragon year. This is because the Stem-Branch Calendar is connected to the Five Element theory. Chinese calendars used the Stem-Branch system to count the days, months and years. There are 10 Stems and 12 Branches in this system. Stems are named by the Yin-Yang and Five Elements (Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth)…The Stem sequence order is Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit/Cat, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep/Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig… Stem and Branch are used together to form a cycle of 60 counting systems which begin with Wooden Rat and end with Water Pig. You can see the entire sequence from the Chinese New Year’s page. From 1924 to 1983 is a complete cycle. Year 2012 is Male Water Dragon the 29th of the Stem-Branch in the system. BecauseWater is connected to Blackin the Five-Element system, Year 2012 is also called the Black Dragonyear.
Tết Nguyên Đán,
More commonly known by its shortened name Tết or “Vietnamese Lunar New Year”, is by far the most important and popular holiday and festival in Vietnam.
Unlike the Western version of New Year, where the traditions are usually limited to a midnight countdown, Tết has a number of specific and symbolically important customs.
Although for the non-Vietnamese it may be hard to fully understand all the significance attached to Tết, it is easy to see the pride, and joy, and energy that Vietnamese people put into this wonderful celebration of culture, food, family, and life in general.
It is the Vietnamese New Year marking the arrival of spring based on the Chinese calendar, a lunisolar calendar. the festival is often called Hội xuân (spring festival).
The name Tết Nguyên Đán is Sino-Vietnamese for Feast of the First Morning, derived from the Hán nôm characters 節元旦.
Tết is celebrated on the same day as Chinese New Year and takes place from the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar (around late January or early February) until at least the third day.
Preparation for Tet starts weeks before New Year’s Day. Homes are cleaned to get rid of bad fortune associated with the old year. Families paint their homes to give it a new look. Everyone gets new clothes and new shoes. Pay your debts and resolve differences between family and friends.
On the last day of the old year, the preparation of food to offer to the ancestors is of special significance. Dishes to offer to the ancestors differ in the Northern, Central and Southern parts of the country, depending on their respective weather conditions at the time and on different local agricultural products available. What is common in all regions of the country during Tet holidays are the varieties of soups, fried, boiled, or stewed dishes, meat, fish, vegetable… The foods that the Vietnamese eat at Tet are varied and diverse, but the people throughout the country all want to have the best and the most beautiful looking food on this occasion to offer their ancestors and to treat their friends and guests.
During the middle of the day an offering is placed on the altar of the household for the ancestor’s of the family. This is done every day throughout the New Year Festival and along with that incense is burnt at the altar. This last tradition is what gives Tết an interesting balance. Though it is a forward-looking renewal of sorts marking the arrival of Spring, it is also firmly rooted in the past, with an important emphasis put on paying respects to ones ancestors
Tết is also an occasion for pilgrims and family reunions. During Tết, Vietnamese visit their relatives and temples, forgetting about the troubles of the past year and hoping for a better upcoming year.
Like other Asian countries, Vietnamese believe that the color red and yellow will bring good fortune, which explains why these colors can be see everywhere.
Children receive a red envelope containing money from their elders. This tradition is calledmừng tuổi (happy new age) in the north and lì xi in the south.
Many Vietnamese prepare for Tết by cooking special holiday foods and cleaning the house. There are a lot of customs practiced during Tết, such as visiting a person’s house on the first day of the new year (xông nhà), ancestral worshipping, wishing New Year’s greetings and giving lucky money to children and elderly people.
They also believe in the custom of the first person through the door in the New Year will reflect the family’s future luck and wealth.
Monster, as per definition, is an imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening. However when used as an adjetive this expression can be used to describe something of an extraordinary and daunting size or extent. That is the case of the 28 October 2011 Ramona Convent Secondary School Dance Night! It was totally a Monstrosity of fun, music, celebration and amazing photographs.
Once again VOX Photography was honored to be part of such incredible event relevant to the “Halloween Night” celebration and with some allegorical props and backdrop decorations we all have truly a blast in our Photo Booth (less) style.
Alhambra Wedding Photography: Karen & Alan Lau Engagement Mini-Session
They say: 1 in 5 relationships starts online and Karen & Alan Lau are part of this equation… A successful Match.com story from the first date until now…I had a great time hanging out and capturing how these two are together.
Karen and Alan are a couple living in Alhambra and with whom I’ve been talking about the preparations for their upcoming wedding, engagement sessions, wedding photography, etc. We share a common interest: we like the theater and specially the famous “Phantom of the Opera“. They are super nice couple and invited us to watch the show at the Venetian Las Vegas, NV so I thought would be a good opportunity to capture some images on the way as part of their upcoming, more elaborated engagement session which will pave the road for their grand day coming up next year but there’s no reason not to show these images from this great couple.
Alhambra Wedding Photography: Cristina & Andy Save The Date
A save the date is a notice stating the date of a significant event such as a wedding. It is typically sent to those likely to be interested or affected by the event and states the planned date of the occasion so that recipients who wish to attend know to keep that date free. Whilst some people choose to send a save the date notice, other couples might just advise friends and family verbally.
Cristina & Andy were looking for a local photographer in the city of Alhambra, San Gabriel Valley, by using Google as their search engine and using “Alhambra Wedding Photographers” as their keyword they found me among other great local photographers in the area. I must confess I was nervous since it was the first time someone contacted me without being a referral from one of my previous photo events. I was very excited to meet them at the local Starbucks where I showed them samples of my work using some prints, images from my trusted iPad plus sample albums from my favorite: Artifex Frames & Albums and Kiss Wedding Books.
Cristina & Andy are a very smart down to Earth couple, their love and affection for each other is easily noticeable and they are full of energy plus great attention to details. They are the type of people not easily convinced since they do their homework throughly by looking infinite samples, knowing exactly what they want and infinite passion for DIY….Therefore it was totally flattering to hear I was chosen to be their photographer for such of memorable event in their lives.
On 18 September 2011 we went to their favorite place: “The Arboretum” of Arcadia to capture the images they will be using for their “Save The Date” invitations. We had an awesome time full great images and laughs, can’t wait for their wedding day to capture even more memorable moments in timeless images like these:
Quinceanera Literally meaning One female who is fifteen, also called Fiesta de Quince Años, Fiesta de Quinceañera, Quince Años, Sweet Fifteen, Sweet XV or simply Quince (15) , is the celebration of a girl’s fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America and elsewhere in communities of people from Latin America. This birthday is celebrated differently from any other birthday, as it marks the transition from childhood to young womanhood. The celebration, however, varies significantly across countries, with celebrations in some countries taking on, for example, more religious overtones than in others.
The beautiful Brithny Ashley Garcia celebrated her fifteen birthday on 17 September 2011. We started her day by getting her ready at the prestigious Beautify Hair salon located at 2429 W Whittier Blvd, Montebello, CA 90640 then dress up at her house in Los Angeles.
Finish with an spectacular reception at the famous “Tamayo Resturant” located in the edge of Los Angeles, 5300 E Olympic Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90022.
Deep tanks to my amazing second shooters/ assistants Steph Dawn Miller , Kristine Ko and Donna Nguyen without them it wouldn’t be possible to capture these awesome moments.
Cannot forget either the last minute assistant of Armando DelaFuente and Victor Garcia…
